About the Association of Defensive Spray Manufacturers

The ADSM, founded in 1992, is a trade association for manufacturers of defensive aerosol sprays. The ADSM meets several times per year to discuss a variety of issues, including group product liability insurance, press coverage of incidents/deaths following pepper spray use, development of industry guidelines for product labeling, and how to promote the defensive spray industry.

This Association is established -

• for the purpose of permitting the manufacturers of non-lethal chemical weapons to join together to promote the use of non-lethal chemical weapons;

• to establish a self-policing policy for the industry;

• to present a vehicle for the industry to support or oppose regulations or legislation that might affect the manufacturers of non-lethal chemical weapons;

• to facilitate the cooperation of its members to their mutual advantage and protection in matters relating to the manufacture of non-lethal chemical weapons and;

• to do anything necessary and proper for the accomplishment of any purposes set forth above or adopted by the membership of this Association.
