Aim for the Eyes Hitting the eyes is more likely to cause immediate incapacitation than hitting the skin or nostrils. Beware: Eyeglasses or protective goggles can prevent the spray from reading the eyes.
Spray and Run The attacker won't always feel pain instantly so don't stick around to see how good your aim is. A strong wind or struggling with your attacker can get some of the spray on you.
Monitor Shelf Life Heat and age can cause spray cans to lose propellant, and some of the active ingredients can lose effectiveness over time. Be sure your canister is fresh and in proper working order.
Store Properly Store in a cool, dry environment at room temperature. Avoid direct sunlight and high temperatures. Do not leave canisters in unventilated vehicles exposed to direct sunlight on hot days
Practice Training with an inert water-filled unit is helpful.
